TrackMania - Gaming WinterFest 2018

After amazing results in the ESL which saw our boys reaching the 2nd place, our TrackMania team looked to take their first LAN under the Venture’s colors. The Dutchmen FlyingDutchy, Wag and MathiCs were thrilled to meet their new teammate Slink at the venue of GWF in Melun, France. The tournament sadly started with some connectivity issues which led to a 7-hour delay in the first day. The fatigue from the trip and the hours of uncertainty started to kick-in. Nonetheless, our players kept a good mood and were excited to see how the matches would unfold.

The Venture boys then made their way through the bracket with overall good performances

At 5 p.m. the event finally started with time attack seeding matches : Dutchy, Slink and MathiCs qualified directly for the 2nd round, placing respectively in the 5th,12th and 15th positions. Wag on the other hand had to play the first round as he ended up 17th. The Venture boys then made their way through the bracket with overall good performances. However, the matches began to climb in difficulty and some of our players had to go through the Lower Bracket. The last match of saturday unfortunately saw three of or players, MathiCs, Wag and Slink compete for only two spots to continue forward. That was the end for MathiCs and Wag in a very close match (they ended up at 100 and 97 points and finished at the 13th and 15th positions).

The next day, Slink and Dutchy (who lost in semi-final on saturday), played for two spots in the losers finals in another really close match-up. While Dutchy managed to cling on the 2nd place just behind Spam, Slink could not make top 2. He finishes at the 11th place overall. In the winners finals, the plot repeats itself with Dutchy and Spam making top 2. They now had to face the bottom two of the Winner Finals : Kronos from team aAa and Cocow from GO. Once again, Dutchy and Spam came on top and would play the Grand Finals. Spam joined his teammates Massa and Roa, which meant that Dutchy was the only one that could prevent a threefold from the German team. The Grand Finals was one for the books with consistently top level runs and probably the closest games with saw during the week-end. In the end, Massa prevailed in a well deserved win, considered the most consistent player throughout the week-end by his pairs. Roa then reached 2nd place. The battle for the 3rd place was fierce. In the last round it was impossible to say who would come on top but Spam got the advantage in the very last turn of the map which gives the whole podium to Team Expert. Dutchy gets a well earned 4th place.

Stay tuned because Venture is looking to make some noise both in the tournament and in the stands !

The team had a great time over the weekend, meeting a lot of other players, visiting stands and seeing our new addition to the roster Slink for the first time. The next step for our players will be the Gamers Assembly next week-end in Poitiers. Stay tuned because Venture is looking to make some noise both in the tournament and in the stands !
